Somebody else is answering to this league's name
nwoabl.org still returns a page, which is worse than returning nothing. The domain lapsed and was taken by an operation that now serves an Indonesian-language sports-betting affiliate site from it, under the name of a German hotel it has also taken. Every word on it is about sportsbook sign-ups. There is no baseball, no Ohio and no league.
This is the specific reason we read a site before we describe it. A directory that trusts an HTTP 200 would file this league as alive and well and send players to a gambling funnel, and a search engine will happily keep the old league name pointed at it for years. We are not linking to it, and neither should anyone else.
The league itself is now undocumented on the open web. A league that keeps its schedule and rosters on High Cheese is not one lapsed renewal away from having its name resold, because the address is ours to keep answering.
