Read the address our directory holds for this league and you can see exactly what it is: not a baseball league's website but a page inside the City of Monterey's, nine folders down, past city hall, past parks and recreation, past field sports, past programs for adults, arriving finally at a file called 30_baseball_league.php.
It returns 404. Municipal websites get reorganised, and when they do, the programmes inside them move without redirects.
A league that exists only as a page in a city's recreation catalogue has no name of its own on the internet, no way to be linked to, and no survival independent of a webmaster it has never met. It is the same position as the Lansing league elsewhere in these records, which is administered by its parks department and has no address at all.
A High Cheese league page gives a municipal programme its own front door -- the schedule, the standings and every roster at an address the league controls -- so it stops being a file path that a redesign can delete.
