Priced in bases
The league funds itself two ways and both are on the front page.
The first is its teams. Every club is a sponsor's name -- All-Brite Electric, J Roo's, Flanagan's, Romano Landscaping, Baybrook Remodelers -- so five southern Connecticut businesses appear in every standing and every result the league produces.
The second is a donor programme with named packages: Donor, Single, Double, Triple and Home Run. Be a WHTL Donor, choose your desired package.
Pricing a donation in bases is exactly the right joke for a ninety-three-year-old baseball league, and it lets somebody give twenty dollars without feeling like a sponsor.
A High Cheese league page puts sponsors beside the fixture list and the standings that already carry their names, at an address a search can reach -- which is what makes a name in a team title worth paying for.
