Star City Adult Baseball League

About the Star City Adult Baseball League

Named for the star on Mill Mountain, and currently invisible from anywhere.

The star is still lit

Roanoke calls itself the Star City for the enormous illuminated star on Mill Mountain, visible for sixty miles at night. Its adult baseball league took the name and then, characteristically, lost the last letter of it to a database field: STARCITYADULTBASEBAL.

That truncated string sits on the hosting company's own domain, because the league never had one of its own, and today it returns a HomeTeamsONLINE error page -- one sentence, one reference number, no baseball.

The platform is down for everything on it.

A league named for the most visible object in its own city being unfindable on the internet is a joke that writes itself. A High Cheese league page gives Star City its own address with the schedule, the standings and every roster rendered as pages -- lit up, in the sense that actually matters now.
