Class C baseball in Gaylord, Minnesota
The Gaylord Islanders are an amateur baseball club from Gaylord, Minnesota, playing Class C in the River Valley West League under the Minnesota Baseball Association. They went 6-15 in 2026 under manager Mitchell Mathews at Walsh Field, on Recreation Road.
Gaylord is a Sibley County seat of about two thousand three hundred sitting on flat prairie roughly as far from an ocean as it is possible to be in North America, and its baseball team is called the Islanders. There is a lake at the edge of town with an island in it, which is presumably the whole explanation and is doing a great deal of work.
Nine classification points is lower Class C, and the ballpark is on a street named Recreation Road, which is a town being extremely clear about what happens there.
A prairie town calling itself the Islanders, on Recreation Road, is a joke Sibley County has been making for decades. High Cheese gives Gaylord somewhere to make it on purpose.
