RIMA Senior Baseball League

About the RIMA Senior Baseball League

Four divisions at 50, 58, 65 and 72 — the oldest bracket in this directory.

Seventy-two and over

RIMA runs baseball across Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts in four age divisions: 50s, 58s, 65s and 72s. That last one is the point. No other league in this directory fields a division for men over seventy-two, and RIMA has two teams in it -- the Rockies 72 and the White Foxes 72 -- playing regular season games at Cranston Stadium and Johnston.

The brackets are unusually close together, eight years, seven, then seven again, which is a league that has worked out that a fifty-year-old and a sixty-year-old are not the same player and neither are a sixty-five-year-old and a seventy-three-year-old.

Seventeen clubs run across the four, several of them fielding sides in more than one -- the Rockies appear at 58, 65 and 72, the White Foxes at 65 and 72, and the Foxes and Silver Foxes carry the same idea downward.

None of it is legible from outside the platform it sits on. A High Cheese league page puts the schedule, the standings and every roster at an address the league owns, so a man of sixty-eight looking for somewhere to keep playing can find that this exists.
