How to join the Portland Riverhawks
Players do not sign up with Portland Riverhawks directly. They register with the Northwest Independent Baseball League, and the league places them or circulates them to managers.
The tryout costs money because the league rents its fields, buys its baseballs and pays for maintenance and staff, and it says so plainly.
Somebody who wants the Portland Riverhawks specifically is depending on a league placing them there, and the High Cheese free agent pool takes that signup straight to the club.
