The Lakers are playing down
Carver, Delano, Green Isle, Plato, St. Boni, Watertown and Young America are Class B in District 7. Waconia is Class A in Section 2.
Class A is the top grade the Minnesota Baseball Association awards, so Waconia are the strongest classification in a league of Class B clubs. Their 4-1 league record and 17-9 overall record are consistent with that.
A league that carries one club a grade above the rest is making a geographic decision rather than a competitive one: Waconia is right there, so Waconia plays.
The league publishes no rules of its own; the association's criteria set the grades.
High Cheese keeps a league's own agreements beside its schedule.
