Charles against St. Mary's, for eighty years
The Charles-St. Mary's Baseball League calls itself the home of southern Maryland adult baseball, and in 2026 it marked its eightieth season.
The name is the structure. This is a league organized around two Maryland counties playing each other, which is a different founding idea from an age bracket or a metro area, and it is the reason an alumni game between Charles and St. Mary's makes sense as the centrepiece of an anniversary.
Eighty seasons puts its first year around 1946, which is to say the summer after the war ended.
High Cheese keeps a league's seasons as data rather than as a page somebody maintains, so an eightieth anniversary has seventy-nine years of record behind it instead of a plaque.
