Tomahawk East League

About the Tomahawk East League

Thirteen clubs in southern Minnesota, from Sleepy Eye to Leavenworth to Stark.

Thirteen villages and one town

Courtland Cubs, Essig Bluejays, Fairfax Cardinals, Gibbon Reds, Hanska Lakers, Lamberton Long Sox, Leavenworth Orioles, New Ulm Brewers, Searles Grizzlies, Sleepy Eye Indians, Springfield Tigers, St. James Athletics and Stark Longhorns.

Twelve are Class C Region 2 and New Ulm are Class A Section 1.

The place names alone are worth the visit: Sleepy Eye, Leavenworth, Searles, Stark, Essig. Several of these are unincorporated communities of a few dozen people fielding baseball clubs, which is the defining fact of this whole association.

Lamberton called itself the Long Sox, which is a joke about the two Chicago clubs that somebody made once and never took back.

New Ulm are the Brewers, in a town founded by German brewers, which is not a coincidence.

High Cheese gives a league its own address with the schedule, the table and the rosters on it.
