Class A baseball in Saint Paul, Minnesota
The St. Paul Hops are an amateur baseball club from Saint Paul, Minnesota, playing Class A in the St. Paul League under the Minnesota Baseball Association. They went 18-6 in 2026 under manager Jack Johnson at Dunning Field.
The Hops, which is a brewing ingredient rather than an animal, in a city that had Hamm's and Schmidt breweries running for a century. It puts the club with the four Brewers and the Luxemburg side in the set of Minnesota teams named after beer production.
Three hundred and forty-eight classification points. Dunning Field on Marshall Avenue is the same address as Toni Stone Field, and four St. Paul League clubs use it: the Hops at 348, the St. Paul Mudhens at 380, the Highland Park Beavers at 346 and the North End Storm at 321.
Those four went 19-5, 18-6, 12-15 and 0-12 this summer. One ballpark, four clubs graded within sixty points of each other, and a nineteen game spread between the best and the worst.
Named after a brewing ingredient in a city that ran Hamm's and Schmidt for a century. High Cheese gives the Hops the page where the name has a reason.
