Red River MSBL

About Red River MSBL

The MSBL name is the older one; the league has run as the RRABL since 2009.

One league, two entries, and this is the earlier name

Red River MSBL and the Red River Adult Baseball League are the same organisation in Shreveport, and both of our records point at the same website. The league's own account is exact: it began in 1993 as the Shreveport-Bossier Men's Senior Baseball League, and the 2009 season was the first it operated as the RRABL. It remains affiliated with the national Men's Senior Baseball League, which is why the older name persists in directories like ours.

So this entry is not a second competition. It is thirty-three years of the same league catalogued under the name it used for its first sixteen.

Everything current -- the 18-and-over and 27-and-over divisions, the wood bats, the twelve-game weekend season from late April to the end of August, the $240 fee, the March draft workout and the eligibility rules -- is on our Red River Adult Baseball League record, and this page does not repeat it.

That a working league can end up filed twice under two of its own names is exactly what happens when the record belongs to a catalogue rather than to the league. A High Cheese league page is an address the league controls, so a rename in 2009 changes the name on one page rather than creating a second league that nobody plays in.
