Class C baseball in Waverly, Minnesota

The Montrose-Waverly Stingers are an amateur baseball club playing Class C in the North Star League under the Minnesota Baseball Association, at The Hornets' Nest in Waverly, Minnesota. They went 6-24 in 2026 under manager Robert Moynagh.

The club is called the Stingers and the ballpark is called The Hornets' Nest. Somebody renamed the team and left the ground alone, or named the ground first and had second thoughts. Either way Wright County now has a hornet's nest with stingers in it, which is at least internally consistent.

Thirty games and twenty-four defeats is the longest losing season anywhere in this set. The North Star League is the strongest division here, holding Jordan at 26-6 and Hutchinson and Howard Lake at 19-8 apiece, and the Stingers are the Class C club at eight points taking that on every week.

Montrose and Waverly are two Wright County towns of about three thousand between them, hyphenated because neither could field a side alone.

The Stingers play at The Hornets' Nest and carry a fifteen-year-old and a fifty-nine-year-old through thirty games. High Cheese gives them the page where that is the story, not 6-24.
