An 18+ wood bat club in New Jersey
The Jersey Junkies are an adult baseball club in the New Jersey Amateur Baseball League, which describes itself as the largest 18+ amateur baseball league in the state. The club plays an eighteen game spring season on Sundays from April through July, with wood bats.
Junkies as in addicted to the game, which for men playing eighteen Sundays a year with wood bats is a fair self-description and the sort of joke that only works if everybody involved agrees with it.
The league sorts its clubs into tiers by talent rather than geography: Premier, Intermediate, Intermediate AAA, Amateur, Amateur AAA, a Legends bracket at 35+ and 45+, and a midweek division. It runs an All Star Game, a Home Run Derby and a double elimination playoff bracket with a wild card.
A hundred and fifty-one clubs share one league website and not one of them has a page on it, which is the gap a High Cheese address closes for the Jersey Junkies.
