One classification point. That is the lowest figure in the whole Minnesota set, lower than Atwater and Clinton at four, and four hundred and sixty-four below the Crystal Cowboys. The association's own arithmetic says Cottonwood is the smallest baseball operation it grades.

Cottonwood is a Lyon County town of about twelve hundred in the southwest corner of the state. One point is the association counting a small population, a local roster and a modest recent record, and finding almost nothing to add up.

Four wins from one point is a club that exists on will rather than resources, which is the oldest story in town ball and the reason the structure has outlasted everything built to replace it.

One classification point is the floor of the entire system, and Cottonwood won four games from it. High Cheese gives a club at the bottom of a table somewhere to be more than the number.
