Class C baseball in Midway, Minnesota
The Midway Snurdbirds are an amateur baseball club from Midway, Minnesota, playing Class C in the Lake and Pine League under the Minnesota Baseball Association. They went 8-7 in 2026 under manager Ray Mueller at Matt Leritz Field.
A snurdbird is not a bird. It is not anything. The word does not appear in any dictionary, describes no animal, and has no etymology anybody has written down. A Wadena County township invented it, put it on a jersey, and has been playing organized baseball under it ever since.
It is the only entirely fabricated mascot in this directory, and after two hundred Hawks, Cardinals and Lakers it is a genuine relief.
Thirteen classification points is mid Class C. The ballpark is on County Highway 47 and filed under Menahga, because Midway is a township without its own post office.
A snurdbird is not a bird. It is not anything. High Cheese gives Midway the page to keep it that way and make everybody ask.
