Class A baseball in Elko New Market, Minnesota
The New Market Muskies are an amateur baseball club playing Class A in the Dakota Rice Scott League under the Minnesota Baseball Association, at Hillside Park in Elko New Market, Minnesota. They went 13-8 in 2026 under manager Todd Bergstrom.
Elko New Market is one city, formed when Elko and New Market merged in 2007, and it fields two Class A clubs in the same league. The Elko Express play at Fredrickson Field and went 21-7-2. The New Market Muskies play at Hillside Park and went 13-8. Two halves of a hyphenated town, each keeping its own team.
Sixty-eight classification points against the Express's fifty-five, so the association grades the Muskies higher and the Express finished eight games further ahead.
A muskellunge is a freshwater pike that Minnesota anglers spend entire summers failing to catch, which makes it a slightly ominous thing to name a team after.
One city of five thousand, two Class A clubs, forty men playing the top grade in Minnesota. High Cheese gives the Muskies a page separate from the Express down the road.
