Class C baseball in Watkins, Minnesota

The Watkins Clippers are an amateur baseball club from Watkins, Minnesota, playing Class C in the Central Valley League under the Minnesota Baseball Association. They went 7-9 in 2026 under manager Matt Geislinger at Clipper Field, on School Avenue.

Nineteen classification points is the joint highest Class C figure in this set, level with Fairmont, Hawley, Hanska, Luxemburg and Rockford, and past the eighteen that usually marks the ceiling. Watkins are as far into Class C as the grade goes and finished two games under.

A clipper is a fast sailing ship, and Watkins is a Meeker County city of about a thousand people roughly as far from an ocean as it is possible to get in North America. It joins the Gaylord Islanders and the Stewartville-Racine Sharks in the set of landlocked Minnesota clubs with maritime ambitions.

Watkins is also the postal address for the St. Nicholas Nicks, whose ballpark carries a priest's title and who won ten games on three classification points.

A fast sailing ship, in a town about as far from an ocean as North America allows, at the top of Class C. High Cheese gives Watkins the page to keep the ambition.
