Adult Baseball’s National Season Opens This Weekend, and the Software Leaders Are Looking at Youth Clubs

Three national adult baseball events open within three days of each other, MSBL is still adding leagues, and the biggest scoring app’s latest moves point at youth clubs, not men’s leagues.

01 — The calendar

When are the 2026 adult baseball national tournaments?

MSBL, NABA and Roy Hobbs all start national events between Oct. 17 and Oct. 19. MSBL is also still signing up new leagues. Meanwhile, GameChanger’s October announcements were all built for youth clubs.

Adult baseball’s three national tournament circuits all open within three days of each other. Roy Hobbs starts in Fort Myers on Oct. 17, MSBL’s World Series divisions start on Oct. 18, and NABA’s Las Vegas event starts on Oct. 19. That puts a peak load of rosters, eligibility checks, schedules and payments on league officers. It’s happening while the biggest scoring platform puts its new investment into youth clubs.

The schedules overlap a lot.

According to MSBL’s published 2026 World Series division listings, the age divisions run in staggered windows from October 18 into early November. The 50+ division starts Oct. 18, the 18+ MABL division plays Oct. 23-25, and the Adam M. Sigler Father/Son divisions are listed for Oct. 29-Nov. 1 with 35 teams.

The Roy Hobbs World Series registration page shows Veterans (35+) and Masters (45+) playing Oct. 17-24 in Fort Myers, Florida. Older divisions follow week by week through Nov. 21, and the Women’s Division plays Nov. 20-22. The NABA Las Vegas World Championship Series runs Oct. 19-25. Each team is guaranteed five games, and the final payment deadline was Oct. 9.

02 — The cost

What does it cost a team to play nationally?

Entry fees are now a real budget item for the team, not pocket change. NABA lists a $3,150 team fee for its 18W-45W divisions and $3,950 for 50W-70W, with $75 for each player over 20. NABA also tells managers they can split the entry fee among players and have each player pay on their own. Roy Hobbs lists $4,395 for a member team, plus separate membership and insurance charges. All teams must carry a $2 million liability policy.

Two parts of the Roy Hobbs fee schedule add administrative work.

The page shows different non-member prices in different places: $5,195 in the 2026 section and $4,995 under “Fees below are for 2026.” It also says 2027 fees will be set in December 2026. Roy Hobbs has already posted 2027 dates, starting Oct. 16-23 for the 35+ and 45+ divisions. So budgeting for next year’s trip starts during this year’s tournament.

03 — The growth

Is adult baseball still growing?

MSBL is still adding local leagues. On Oct. 4, MSBL welcomed the Midland Sandlot Alumni Association in Midland, Texas. It is an eight-team, 18+, wood-bat league. Founder Jon Conners told MSBL it “started in March of 2026 with 3 guys” and now has “100+ guys on eight teams.” The league began play Sept. 13 and has a championship scheduled for Nov. 22. Conners said there is “a desire internally” to play in national tournaments in the future, but no plans yet.

That’s one league, not a trend line.

It does show how new adult leagues usually form: one organizer recruits players by word of mouth, runs a fall season, and joins a national body for structure. Those organizers are exactly the people who need simple scheduling, rosters and stats on day one.

04 — The platform

What is GameChanger building, and for whom?

GameChanger’s October news was aimed at youth organizations. On Oct. 9 it launched GameChanger for Basketball Clubs. The free partnership program is for organizations with 10 or more teams and includes dedicated account support and financial incentives. On Oct. 7, OnePay announced it will be GameChanger’s Official Banking and Fintech Partner starting in 2027. The Youth Sports Business Report said the deal was unveiled at Advertising Week New York. It also cited GameChanger’s figure of nearly 10 million games across more than 1 million teams a year.

GameChanger, owned by DICK’S Sporting Goods, is building its business around family audiences and club-level partnerships.

Adult men’s leagues still use it widely, but nothing in this month’s announcements targets them. Adult league needs are different: age-division eligibility, ex-pro limits, insurance certificates, and players who pay their own fees.

05 — The takeaways

What it means for league owners, managers, players and sponsors

League owners and officers: Before rosters lock, check eligibility rules for each event. MSBL’s listings set ex-pro limits by division (the 35+ Central division allows no ex-pros unless 20 years removed). Roy Hobbs requires insurance certificates.

Managers: Splitting fees among players is normal now, and NABA explicitly allows it. Keep track of who has paid, separate from the official invoice.

Players: National events overlap. Players who play for two teams or in two age groups should check the dates by division before booking travel.

Sponsors: The national events gather thousands of adult players in Fort Myers, Las Vegas and Arizona in one five-week stretch. That audience is different from the families youth platforms are selling to advertisers.

Software buyers: Ask your vendors whether their roadmaps cover adult-league workflows. The biggest platform’s newest features are youth-club features.
