Twenty-two games, or a weeknight instead
The league plays a 22-game schedule on weekends, with playoffs best of three and championship series at a professional stadium. Its Federal League exists as the alternative — a weeknight competition created specifically for players who want their weekends off. The season starts in May, as it has since the inaugural one in 1998.
Twenty-two games is one of the longest regular seasons in this directory, and offering the same standard of baseball on a weeknight is how a league keeps men who have families. A High Cheese calendar carries five divisions on one subscription and syncs to every player's phone, so a man playing weekends and a man playing Tuesdays see the same league.
