Sixteen to forty-four

The Deer Creek Shockers publish a roster with jersey numbers, positions, ages, bats and throws, school and experience level. The ages on it run from sixteen to forty-four.

Twenty-eight years across the bench, starting with a high school sophomore, in a village of three hundred. That span is not a preference, it is arithmetic: three hundred people do not contain nine men of the same age who all want to play baseball on Sunday.

We do not reprint it. It is a list of named people with their ages and schools attached, and Deer Creek Shockers publishing it does not make it ours to copy. Several of them are minors.
